Job Vacancy: Artistic & Festival Director, Creative Youth

We are seeking expressions of interest for an Artistic & Festival Director for Creative Youth. This is a hugely exciting and rewarding role for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who is hungry, a hard worker, who cares deeply for arts and culture, gets a buzz out of seeing an event they have organised run smoothly and believes that the nurturing of young artists is essential to the arts and cultural sector.

The role holder will be a creative producer, leading all event management and providing creative input for the charity in the contracted term. Their primary task will be providing artistic support for the Charity, creating projects, and activity that sit within the artistic and business direction agreed by the CEO and Board. They will have responsibility for directing The International Youth Arts Festival Kingston (IYAF). As Festival Director, the new Artistic Director will build on the past nine festivals visioning a bold, high profile, imaginative festival in 2018, to celebrate the 10th anniversary, in line with the cultural branding and ethos of the previous festivals and Creative Youth’s views and goals.

The ideal applicant for this role will have exceptional project management, event management and organisational skills, impeccable people management, exciting creative flair, a passion for the arts and a genuine and well-rounded knowledge of the cultural scene – not only in the UK, but across the world.

Job Vacancy: Chief Executive Officer, Creative Youth

We are seeking expressions of interest for a Chief Executive Officer for Creative Youth.This role requires an individual with vision and experience in management and leadership, preferably in the arts and charitable sector. The successful candidate will be a skilled negotiator, able to communicate well in a range of situations, and positively influence a variety of audiences and stakeholders. Well-developed people skills are a must, as you will need to engender trust and share in the sense of direction and purpose for the organisation. The team will look to you for their focus, their motivation, and to provide a clear vision for the future.

You will be an individual with excellent organisational skills, particularly when it comes to planning and implementing events and fundraising initiatives, and delivering powerful presentations to interested donors and foundations. In particular you will have overall responsibility for fundraising, financial planning, marketing and operations. You will therefore need to be comfortable working to and being held accountable for tight deadlines and tangible results, while also being able to identify risks and ensure strategies are in place to mitigate them.

You will need to gain an appreciation of our funders, donors and supporters, and their political, philanthropic and commercial motivations, in order to apply your business and political acumen and clear understanding of the cultural landscape to achieve our fundraising goals. Your success will be measured by the achievement of our business-oriented goals in the areas of developing Creative Youth and creating a sustainable financial base for the future.

The position is suited to a team player and someone with the gravitas, credibility and ability to exercise influence and the sense of purpose to get the job done. You should have the natural ability to bring hearts and minds along with you while creating a positive organisation culture through a spirit of generosity and a sense of humour. You will have a genuine interest in serving the needs of the Young People in order to help them develop through the Arts. In short, you will be a leader and ambassador for the organisation and believe that the work we do improves young peoples opportunities.

This is an exciting role for someone wishing to lead a Charity with a growing profile and reputation. Working closely with the Chair, you will be instrumental in growing the Charity and fulfilling its potential to increase its footprint and provide its services and unique methodology to many more young people across the UK and beyond.

Volunteer Project Management Trainee opportunities

Creative Youth is recruiting for project management trainees for the International Youth Arts Festival 2017. This is a perfect opportunity for a student or graduate to gain experience in Arts and Events Management and the winning candidates will be supported throughout the process by the IYAF team and a personal mentor. The winning candidates will be expected to start at the end of March and be heavily involved in leading and managing the project until delivery during the festival in July.

Marketing and Events Manager opportunity

Creative Youth is looking for an energetic, creative and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Marketing & Events Manager. This is a huge opportunity for anyone who is interested in marketing and communications within an exciting organisation working close with creative individuals in a fast passed and dynamic environment. Creative Youth organises various and diverse events throughout the year and the International Youth Arts Festival Kingston which will take place from 8th-17th July 2016.

The individual will support the Chief Executive Officer in devising marketing plans for proposal to the Creative Youth team and Board; planning designated events and implementing agreed marketing plans in particular for The International Youth Arts Festival Kingston and other events to achieve financial targets and audience development objectives to support Creative Youth’s mission.

The ideal candidate will have a good level of experience of working in marketing, strong organisational and management skills, knowledge of budget manadement as well as strong relationship building and communication skills.

Current Trainee Producer and Volunteer Roles‏

Get involved with Creative Youth and IYAF!

We are currently very keen to hear from young people under 26 who would be interested in working as trainee producers.  This is a voluntary role working on specific projects which culminate during the International Youth Arts Festival.  We take approximately 20-25 young trainees every year and  provide mentorship and training to help these young people take an idea through from concept through to completion.  Trainees work on either specific projects as highlighted in the attached document or can suggest their own ideas for an event they may want to see materialise during IYAF in July.

This is a fantastic opportunity for enterprising, entrepreneurial, self motivated young people who wish to gain professional experience in a live working environment, build transferable skills and work on one of the largest and most diverse youth arts events in the country.

You can work alone or in teams and we are flexible as to the working hours of the trainees, but they must be available during the festival in July (8th – 17th July).
