Further Information

Creative Youth and the International Youth Arts Festival would like to invite you to take part in an exciting project aiming to engage young people with classical music and develop their creativity.

Using ten pieces of classical music as a starting point, students are invited to develop a performance of no more than 10/15 minutes to be showcased at the Rose Theatre on 12th July at 8pm during the International Youth Arts Festival.

Creative responses are not limited to musical performances, they can be either a composition, theatre, dance or movement, digital art, animation or a performance poetry.

The project run in partnership with Kingston Music Service can be integrated into the curriculum and a large amount of resources for teachers and information packs are available online. For more information visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0647v1v.

The project will offer your students the opportunity to perform alongside other pupils from the Borough at the largest youth arts festival in the UK. IYAF will provide lighting, sound and any other technical support you may need on the day.

In addition to the festival on the 12th July, students have the opportunity to submit their work on the BBC Ten Pieces website for a chance to be showcased at the BBC Proms 2016 and for inclusion in the online showcase. Further information on how to submit will be sent out to participating schools.

Tickets for the festival will be available to parents through the Rose Theatre box office. Schools will need to ensure that there is sufficient staff to monitor their classes once they have arrived at the venue

If you would like to take part in the Ten Pieces project please complete the form below with the number of pupils in your classes taking part before the 24th March 2016.
