BBC Ten Pieces
Creative Youth and the International Youth Arts Festival ran this exciting project which aimed to engage young people with classical music and develop their creativity.
Using ten pieces of classical music released by the BBC as a starting point, students were invited to develop a performance of 10 minutes to be showcased at the Rose Theatre during the International Youth Arts Festival 2o16.
Creative responses included compositions, theatre, dance or movement, digital art, animation and performance poetry.
The project was run in partnership with Kingston Music Service and was integrated into the curriculum. A large number of resources for teachers and information packs were provided to aid the project. For more information visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0647v1v.
The project offered students the opportunity to perform alongside other pupils from within the Borough at the largest youth arts festival in the UK.
In addition to the festival, students had the opportunity to submit their work on the BBC Ten Pieces website for a chance to be showcased at the BBC Proms 2016 and for inclusion in the online showcase.
