Central to our key priorities has been the creation of a volunteering programme which now has a core team of 50 volunteers, increasing to more than 160 young volunteers during the festival period, who now work on a multitude of projects. Many of our volunteers come to us with no experience of the arts, and, for many, it has become a life-changing experience. Volunteers are required to carry out a number of roles both throughout the year and especially during the festival.

Kingston RPM: Records, Music & People – 10 Volunteers needed for oral history project
Deadline: Wednesday 19 April 2017, 10am

We are currently recruiting for 10 volunteers to work on our latest oral history project, Kingston RPM: Records, Music & People which celebrates the music history of Kingston from 1940s to 1970s. The project will bring to light the borough’s involvement in the record industry, its gigs scene
and the American Army’s influence on modern day swing.

No previous technology experience required, as full training will be provided; more important is a love of music, an interest in history and Kingston’s past and an ear for a story.

The histories collected will feature in an exhibition at the Rose Theatre from June, as well as make a contribution to Kingston’s History Centre and Archives and resource pack for local schools. There will also be wider opportunities to support heritage events as part of IYAF 2017.

Expenses and travel will be paid.
More information about the role requirements can be found here.
