Elton John – Tumblewood Connection (1970)

Howard of Effingham School, aged 12

Elton John Tumbleweed Connection has a Great mix of harmonica, strong guitar and piano licks and rock and roll drums.

Blues Songs

There is a really strong blue vibe to many of the songs. Some of the tracks are innovative with “Come Down in Time” using a harp.

When there’s not a guitar lick there’s a piano one. This is Elton’s strong suit and even in 1970, we can hear the classic sound that we all know today.

Some tracks have a strong rock and roll feel and have some of the influences of his contemporaries like Dylan.

One of my favourites would have to be Country Comfort, my reason for this is that I love the variety of hidden instruments in the background. I think that it gives the song a vintage vibe.
