With nowhere to go, no one to speak to, and nothing to do: why wouldn’t you pretend to pass the time?
In this camp macabre pantomime set in the deepest darkest depths of a castle, two prisoners practice all manner of play, in a desperate effort to keep each other sane. But while reality slips to fantasy – a sordid love affair unfurls... all from the ‘comfort’ of one of history's cruellest punishments, the Oubliette.
“Like eating a ball of glitter.”
'An accomplished piece of ensemble storytelling that unravels beautifully in its final act. - Jesse Briton
Barking Hearts, an emerging theatre company, creates ambituously bold, highly visual and physically demanding work, mixing the beautiful with the dirty and gritty sides of society and humanity. Their shows will give your gut the itch as they normalise stories of the unheard and unspoken, with raw experiences and perhaps a musical number, if you’re lucky.
