Work drives everyone mad; from drinking too much coffee and popping out for a cigarette to stress-crocheting and calling on the occasional Ouija board, Ellie, Ash and Rachel do what they can to survive. Alone. Obviously. That is until they find themselves locked in a storage cupboard together. Ét voilà; The Red Tent.
A space traditionally reserved for women to menstruate, give birth and share stories, it is reimagined to bring these isolated women together. Can they grapple with the idea of female friendships and learn to work together?
LazyLeaf Theatre Company uses improvisation and devising tools to create playful, female-centred work. Founded in 2023 by Actors/Directors Laura-May Hassan, Nicola Moore and Samantha Pears, LazyLeaf finds joy in focusing on mainly character-driven scenes, searching for new and interesting ways to play with the narrative of a story and pushing the limits of what a small cast can achieve. ‘The Red Tent,’ will be LazyLeaf’s first production.
