The Untold Fable of Fritz

About the show

"A piece inspired by Philip Pullman's short story, ‘Clockwork’, the only way to describe this show is if Narnia, Monty Python and Tim Burton were a 45-minute play ... with puppets.

White snow sweeps down from the mountain tops, freezing the valleys and the hearts of all its inhabitants across the land. At the foot of the tallest peak live the inhabitants of Brutzenvien and their King. Through this everlasting stone-cold ice age, the King's son soon falls ill and the King makes a pledge to do all in his power to save his heir. But how far will he go?

Using puppetry, live music and physical theatre, this show is a rollercoaster of adventure into an enchanted world."

About the company

Unsettled Theatre (Paige Canavan- Smith, Anais Fallow, Natasha Ryszka- Onions, and Tom Wheeldon) use their experience in puppetry, devised theatre, and clowning to bring an exciting tale of fantasy to the stage. They are a London and Kent based company, formed in 2019. As this was just before the pandemic so their early years as a company began on Zoom.

Recently, they’ve completed a project on training in accessible and sustainable theatre and outreach, and value the aspect of community in theatre. Inspired by Phillip Pullman's Clockwork, The Untold Fable of Fritz explores the untold aspect of the children’s story. They consider how we decide what is true or false, the impact of word of mouth and faith, and the limitations of love and status.
