In the moonlight we look blue. Moonlight invites Black visual artists from all disciplines to explore the delicate and multifaceted journey of vulnerability, emotion and identity when freed from the weight of social expectation. How can emotion be captured not only as an act of resistance, but also as a pure state of being? Can we explore ourselves outside of the perception of others and what does this look like?
Artists are encouraged to look at personal freedom, self-perception and identity in the absence of judgement and in moments of creation that aren’t always centred in survival, but exist within the beauty and power of being human.
This is one of five exhibitions that we will be running throughout the year that has been funded by Arts Council England as part of our FUSEBOX emerging visual artist programme.
We are also excited to announce that one exhibiting artist will be awarded a bursary of £1000 to complete a 6 week residency in FUSEBOX, concluding in a Solo Exhibition.
This open call is open to all visual art mediums from artists of Black British, African, Caribbean and mixed Black heritage.
Thank you to Arts Council England for making this exhibition open call possible.
Applicants may only submit 1 piece of work per person.
Successful artists have the opportunity to sell their artwork. This is up to the discretion of the artist – please note that FUSEBOX will not take any commission for the sale of artworks.
Successful applicants can expect to hear back from us by Sunday 30 March 2025. If you have not received an email from Creative Youth by this date, please assume that you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
We welcome artwork applications across all visual art disciplines.
Disclaimer: Please be aware that FUSEBOX is a multi arts venue that is constantly changing and frequently in operation. Whilst we take every precaution when installing your artwork and aim to ensure its safety in the space, FUSEBOX is not solely a gallery space meaning that we are unable to provide invigilators for exhibition areas at all times. This means that we cannot guarantee that work will remain untouched by members of the public or hirers using the space, and cannot take responsibility for any subsequent damage as a result of public interference.
