The Role: Company Secretary

Creative Youth are excited to announce that we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Company Secretary to join our Board of Trustees. This vital role ensures our charity’s compliance with legal and governance requirements, supporting transparency, accountability, and good practice in line with Charity Commission guidelines.

  • Location: Flexible remote working with occasional presence at FUSEBOX, Kingston upon Thames
  • Commitment: Approximately 8 hours per month (up to 10 during peak periods)
  • Term: Initial 3-year period, renewable annually at the AGM
  • Deadline: 5pm, Monday 31st March 2025

Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance & Compliance:
    • Schedule bi-monthly Board meetings and prepare agendas.
    • Record and distribute meeting minutes.
    • Conduct policy reviews and updates with Co-Directors.
  • Regulatory Filings & Record Keeping:
    • Manage Companies House and Charity Commission filings.
    • Ensure timely submission of Annual Returns.
    • Maintain accurate records of Trustees.
  • Board Support:
    • Provide guidance on legal obligations under UK charity law.
    • Keep Trustees updated on regulatory changes.
  • General Duties:
    • Attend Board and Finance Sub-Committee meetings.
    • Promote Creative Youth’s work within your network.
    • Maintain stakeholder relationships and support team events.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Experience in governance or compliance roles.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Commitment to Creative Youth’s mission and values.

Desirable:

  • Background in legal, financial, or governance roles.
  • Familiarity with Companies House and Charity Commission requirements.
  • Previous charity or arts organisation experience.
