Unapologetic is a creative company championing and elevating the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community through dance, movement, and visual arts.
Rooted in authenticity, expression, and community, Unapologetic exists to create bold, inclusive spaces where artists are empowered to explore their creative voice, challenge convention, and create without apology.
Founded by queer creative duo Kimberley Collins (She/Her) and MJ McGibbon (They/Them), Unapologetic was born from a shared vision to redefine what creative spaces can look and feel like. Together, their professional careers span some of the world’s biggest stages and brands, with credits including Madonna, Kim Petras, Kesha, Sean Paul, Dua Lipa, Robbie Williams, Pride in London, the MTV EMAs, The BRIT Awards, YouTube, Google, Sony, and the Royal Variety Performance, among many others in TV, Film and Theatre.

Alongside their work in the commercial industry, Kimberley and MJ are also the founders and directors of Pride In Kingston, continuing their commitment to creating meaningful opportunities and celebrating LGBTQIA+ communities both on and off the stage.
Since its creation, Unapologetic has grown into far more than a training or performance company. It has become a creative home where artists are encouraged to experiment, collaborate, take risks, and develop their own artistic identity. Through movement, mentorship, and shared experiences, Unapologetic nurtures the next generation of creative voices.
“For us, movement extends far beyond dance. It is communication. It is protest. It is celebration. It is healing. It is a language that everyone deserves access to, regardless of their background or experience.”

Becoming Creative Residents at FUSEBOX marks an exciting new chapter for Unapologetic. This residency gives us a permanent creative playground to imagine, collaborate, and make bold work alongside the local community here in Kingston. It provides a space where artists can explore freely, where ideas can grow into ambitious projects, and where creativity can thrive without limitation.
We believe this residency is the beginning of something incredibly special, not just for Unapologetic, but for Kingston. Together with FUSEBOX, we’re excited to break down barriers, build stronger creative connections, and create unapologetic art that reflects the diverse voices and stories within our community.

What’s ahead during our creative residency
Over the next year, FUSEBOX will become our creative playground, a space where ideas are explored, artists are nurtured, and the community is invited to experience creativity in new and exciting ways.
As Creative Residents, we’re committed to creating opportunities that are accessible, ambitious, and rooted in community. Throughout the year, we’ll be bringing a wide range of projects to life, including:
- Open dance classes for the public, creating welcoming spaces for people of all backgrounds and experience levels to move, connect, and discover the joy of dance
- Professional dance training, offering high-quality classes for dancers and artists looking to challenge themselves, develop their craft, and connect with industry professionals
- Cabaret evenings and social takeovers, transforming FUSEBOX into a vibrant hub for performance, celebration, and connection. These events will champion queer artistry while creating spaces where audiences and creatives can come together
- Visual concept creation, using the venue as a creative studio to produce dance films, visual art, and multidisciplinary projects that showcase bold storytelling through movement
- The launch of our Trans Dance Retraining Programme – the first initiative of its kind within our community. Designed specifically for transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming artists, the programme will provide a supportive environment to reconnect with movement, rebuild confidence, develop technical training, and create pathways back into professional dance and performance
- Artistic Development programme – A monthly session for those who are looking to create or develop confidence in their artistic voice
- Pride In Kingston – PRIDE weekend 26 – 28th June 2027

Above all, this residency is about creating space: space for experimentation, for collaboration, for difficult conversations, for celebration, and for artists to make work that reflects who they truly are.
We want FUSEBOX to become a place where creativity feels accessible, where local artists can grow alongside established professionals, and where the community feels invited to be part of the process, not just the final performance.
We’re incredibly excited to begin this journey and can’t wait to share everything we’ll be creating over the coming year. We hope you’ll join us as we reimagine what a creative residency can be and continue building a more inclusive, vibrant artistic community in Kingston.
