Beatrice Keelan
Beatrice Keelan is an artist working with photography, film and performance. She researches fluid subjects like memory or emotion as though they are a cold case to be investigated, with a hopeless determination to find concrete meaning. She is also interested in notions of the photographer as the outsider, forever recording and learning through the experiences of others. This is explored primarily through analogue photography, working with high-grain film which is enlarged in the darkroom to create images that feel ambiguous yet familiar. Her work disguises personal obsessions and insecurities within the artist character she presents, allowing her to explore these feelings whilst maintaining distance from the audience.
Residency plans
“I hope to use this residency to continue exploring analogue techniques I have been testing over the last few months. I have been working with ways to obscure visual themes often associated with memory, such as extreme cropping or hand drawing negatives to be printed in the darkroom. The funding and dedicated time offered by Fusebox will allow me to push this and experiment with methods such as liquid emulsion, lith printing and working analogue images into animation loops.”
Kyra-Sky
Kyra-Sky (b. 2000, London) obtained their BFA in 2022 from Oxford Brookes University; receiving the Fine Art Writing prize, and a solo show at Modern Art Oxford as part of the Platform Graduate Award. Kyra-Sky graduated with an MFA in 2024 from The Ruskin School of Art, quickly securing their second solo show; Eophian Relics (2025) at Picturedome, Gloucester.
Kyra-Sky explores themes of migration, folk-ritual and linguistics. working primarily with installation, film, and text to produce artefacts based on various traditions, beliefs or folk-tales from the Caribbean islands of St.Lucia and Grenada
Residency plans
I aim to use the residency to materialise more investigations into the folklore and cultural practices of St.Lucia and Grenada. I would like to 3D print a large-scale sculpture (made from sugar-derived bio-plastics).
The sculpture would (hopefully) stand at around 500mm and be situated on either a plinth, or mass of granulated sugar. I will also use sugar in the space surrounding the sculpture, creating intricate patterns which flow outward from the central work. I will practice these patterns in the space for the duration of the residency, recording them as I make, remove and reshape them.
Mariia Yarchevska
Mariia Yarchevska is a Ukrainian sculptor creating sculptures called Beisiki. Beisiki — “little demons” in Ukrainian — are beings from my dreams and nightmares, brought to life through clay and acrylic paint, making tangible the emotions and experiences hidden in my imagination. I work with air-dry ceramic clay for small and medium-scale sculptures, while larger pieces rely on wire and foil frameworks for balance and stability. My recent collection draws inspiration from Ukrainian cultural heritage, ancient protective symbols, and mystical forest beings. Through these works, I aim to transform imagination into form, giving voice to the unseen.
Residency plans
During my residency at FUSEBOX, I would like to develop a new body of work for my upcoming solo exhibition and explore how my sculptures can exist together as one immersive world. I want to invite visitors into a world that has never existed before, and tell its story through creatures and spirits born entirely from my imagination. I am particularly interested in exploring installation, atmosphere and the relationships between the creatures, rather than simply presenting a collection of individual sculptures. The residency will give me the opportunity to develop these ideas, experiment with the FUSEBOX space and gradually build this imagined world.
ITCH Dance
ITCH Dance is an inclusive dance company where all dance artists can access professional level training, perform meaningful work and are a part of a LGBTQIA+ affirming community that values authenticity over tradition. Our company is designed to dismantle restrictive binary traditions within dance, create accessible opportunities and provide a safe space for dancers to thrive.
Residency plans: The Space Between Selves
The Space Between Selves by ITCH Dance explores transformation as an intimate journey through identity, memory and becoming. Beginning with the child we once were before expectations and boundaries of society were installed within us, the space invites you to question who were we before we were told who to be, and who might we become when we begin to choose for ourselves?
Through screendance, photography, live dance performance and visual art installation, the space moves between past, present and imagined futures. Bodies, images and memories become fragments of an evolving self, inhabiting the space between who we have been, who we are, and who we are still becoming. With LGBTQIA+ experiences held within its narrative, the work considers the complexities of self discovery, belonging and the courage to live authentically.
The Space Between Selves is an invitation to pause within the uncertainty of becoming, to reflect on the selves we have carried, the selves we have shed, and the selves waiting to emerge.
